Care for Respiratory Illness
As of March 1, 2024, the CDC has removed the isolation period for COVID-19. Under the updated Respiratory Virus Guidance, it is recommended that people with a respiratory illness, including COVID-19, stay home and away from others until at least 24 hours after both their symptoms are getting better overall, and they have not had a fever (and are not using fever-reducing medication).
When you return to your normal activities, take extra precautions over the next 5 days and practice physical distance, avoid crowded areas, wear masks when around others, don’t share food/drink/cigarettes/vape pens, and avoid being around people who are medically fragile. You may still be able to spread the virus that made you sick, even if you are feeling better.
Should I see a Doctor ??
Seek health care for testing and/or treatment if you are sick and have risk factors for severe illness. You can make an appointment with the Student Health Center here on campus or see your primary care physician.
What to do about Class or Work ??
If you are unable to attend class or go to work, please notify your professors/boss to ensure that you are able to get notes, assignments, etc that you will be missing while you are out.
What about if I test positive for COVID?
As noted above, there is no longer a requirement to isolate those who test positive for COVID or quarantine those who have been exposed to someone who is positive for COVID. Please refer to our Excuse Policy for additional details.
Where can I get a home COVID test to do on my own ?
COVID tests can be purchased at any local pharmacy or grocery store.
