The following are International Student Scholarships administered by the International Student Services Office:
Xylia Peterson Memorial Fund
Awarded to: Junior or senior international students. Background: Xylia Peterson was 45 when she passed away from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. Xylia came from Sri Lanka. She was a graduate of Fredonia, Class of 1985. She worked as a secretary at Fredonia for the Vice President for Administration and was a dedicated and hard worker. Xylia was kind of heart, had a very positive attitude, and lived life to its fullest. She loved her family and was an avid quilter and gardener.
Raymond Lai Scholarship
Awarded to: International student with preference given to a student from Hong Kong or China. (Established March 1995) Background: Raymond Lai is a lifelong resident of Hong Kong and a graduate of Fredonia. Mr. Lai's professional career closely parallels Hong Kong's emergence as a major economic entity. Following many years in the banking industry, including a senior vie presidency and two overseas assignments, Mr. Lai joined the Hong Kong Airport Authority in 1996 and is credited with being a major force in helping to make the newly-constructed international airport facility one of the very finest in the world.
Selection
An application for the above two scholarships will be available at the start of the spring semester for the following academic year. Selection is determined by a scholarship committee that ranks students based on a required written statement, campus involvement and academic performance.
