The department offers the following B.S. degree programs:
- Mathematics
- Applied Mathematics
- Mathematics-Adolescence Education (Grades 7-12)
- Mathematics-Middle Childhood Education (Grades 5-9)
The B.S. in Mathematics is a general mathematics degree program. It’s a good choice for students who are seeking general employment following graduation and those interested in graduate study in mathematics.
The B.S. in Applied Mathematics is for students pursuing a mathematics-related career in business, science, industry, or the public sector, and those interested in graduate study in applied mathematics or statistics. The Applied Math major requires a core of coursework in mathematics and statistics together with a minor in a discipline of application. Two popular choices for this minor are our Statistics minor and our Data Science minor.
The B.S. degree programs in Mathematics-Adolescent Education and Mathematics-Middle Childhood Education lead to initial certification in New York State to teach mathematics at those grade levels. Our Mathematics Education program has achieved national recognition by the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics, and is considered one of the top teacher preparation programs in the region.
