Welcome to the new and improved SUNY Fredonia Statement!
We’re thrilled to bring you this new magazine full of changes and enhancements meant to create a more useful publication for you, our alumni, in all aspects of your life.
Whether you’re interested in keeping up with friends or campus happenings, seeking career opportunities — at any stage of life — or considering ways to support SUNY Fredonia and its educational mission, this new publication will give you the tools you need to help accomplish those goals.
The aesthetic changes are obvious, as we’ve moved to a larger, four-color format to provide you with a more visually striking piece meant to grab and hold your attention. Just as importantly, we’ve made significant changes to the type of content we’re including. As you just saw on the inside front cover, we’re placing a greater emphasis on upcoming events and opportunities for you to interact with our campus, faculty, students and fellow alumni. So while we’ll still be sure to share highlights of recent Fredonia happenings, we’re much more interested in making sure you’re aware of what’s coming down the road, so that you can make plans to join us, no matter where you call home.
We’ve also changed the frequency of the Statement. Our research revealed that alumni most want to hear from us before the start of each semester, so that they know what’s coming soon. As such, we’ll publish twice a year now (August and January) to provide you with every opportunity to stay involved. And believe it or not, despite creating this higher quality publication, we’re saving tens of thousands of dollars in production and mailing costs by reducing the number of issues each year from four to two, which is always welcome news.
Lastly, we’ve timed this with the launch of our new alumni website, revamped using the same strategies employed in the re-design of this publication. Best of all, we’ve added an interactive component to the site — something we call FREDConnect, a social networking section available exclusively to Fredonia alumni. This interactive portal lets you start discussion groups, post job or internship openings, organize reunions and find lost friends — all from your computer. And as you’ll see after your first visit, we are committed to ensuring that this content stays fresh and useful to you. Just click on the “alumni” link off the fredonia.edu home page, or bookmark https://www.fredonia.edu/alumni. We hope you’ll visit often and take an active role in this valuable online community.
