Winners of the Outstanding Administrative Service Awards were recently recognized at a luncheon in their honor. Tracy Bennett, SUNY Fredonia vice president for Administration, cited the five recipients of the awards for their outstanding performance.

The awards acknowledge exemplary performance as noted by students, faculty and staff in five areas: custodial services, professional trades, secretarial/clerical, Faculty Student Association non-management, and professional staff from the university or the Faculty Student Association.

“These awards,” explained Mr. Bennett, “recognize employees in the Administrative division who show an exemplary service attitude, creativity and resourcefulness in improving services, willingness to work as part of a team, and a positive attitude in dealing with students, faculty and other staff.”

Winners of this year’s awards include:

The Professional Service Award went to Mike Jackino. Mike has been employed at SUNY Fredonia since April 1990. He began as a general mechanic in the refrigeration unit of Facilities Management and is currently the Information System Technician in the Facilities Management department. He is a resident of Fredonia.

The Professional Trades Award went to Brent Kawski from the Building Services and Grounds Department. Brent has been employed since 1986 at SUNY Fredonia. He began as a cleaner, has worked as a fill-in for the delivery driver/warehouse, and currently works as a senior grounds worker on the athletic fields. He resides in Fredonia.

The Custodial Services Award went to Mary Leckliter of the Building Services and Grounds Department. Mary has been employed at SUNY Fredonia since October 2005 and works as a cleaner in Hendrix Hall. She is a resident of Fredonia.

The Secretarial/Clerical Award was presented to Dana Berry. Dana has been employed at SUNY Fredonia in the Student Accounts office since January 1991. She began as a temporary clerk, worked as a Keyboard Specialist and is currently a Calculations Clerk II. She is a resident of Dunkirk.

The Faculty Student Association Award was presented to Judy Van Vlack. Judy works in the Cranston Marche as the lead person in the pantry. She has worked at SUNY Fredonia since August 1982 and has held the positions of cook trainee, assistant service worker, and deli worker. She resides in Silver Creek.

The Outstanding Administrative Service Awards have been presented each year since 2003 to acknowledge the significant contributions administrative support staff make to the students, faculty and staff at SUNY Fredonia.
