Collin Barmore
Fredonia State sophomore Collin Barmore of Gerry finished first in the men's 800 meters Saturday at the SUNYAC Outdoor Track and Field Championship meet at SUNY Cortland. He is an Interdisciplinary Studies/Environmental Sciences major.
Barmore crossed the finish line in 1:54.82 to finish just over a half-second ahead of Brockport's Marius Sidlaukus and nearly two seconds ahead of Geneseo's Ezra Ruggles. All three men qualified for the NCAA Atlantic Regional.
Barmore and three teammates also qualified for the Regional in the 4x400 meter relay. TyeRyan Burke and Topher Elkins had the first two legs, Barmore the third, and Toby Onuoha anchored a 3:26.68 clocking, good for second place in the event.
The quartet of Elkins, Onuoha, Tyler Miller, and Burke finished third in the 4x100 relay in 44.98 seconds.
Onuoha finished third in the high jump. He was one of four men to clear 1.85 meters (6 feet, 3/4 inch) and was placed third based on number of misses. Onuoha also finished seventh in the triple jump at 12.86 meters (42 feet, 2 1/4 inches) and eighth in the 200 meters.
Also Saturday, Burke was seventh in the 400 meters, Aaron Cember was seventh in the shot put and ninth in the discus, and Anthony Ruiz was 10th in the 5,000 meters.
The Blue Devils finished fourth in the 10-team standings. Geneseo won the team championship.
