The SUNY Fredonia Center for Innovation and Economic Development (CIED) recently organized a client showcase at the Science Center.
SUNY Distinguished Professor and Chair of the Department of Computer and Information Sciences, Dr. Junaid Zubairi, made a joint presentation with Arjun Kodial, a student of engineering at the State University at Buffalo about the ZubAir glassbox developed under the CIED.
ZubAir glassbox is the updated version of the patented Flight Data Tracker (FDT) technology by Dr. Zubairi. The revisions and updates were implemented after the National Science Foundation Innovation Corps program in which over 100 aviation experts and professionals were interviewed.
The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB), a federal government agency for investigating transportation accidents, also evaluated the ZubAir technology and recommended continuation of the development targeted for small and regional jets.
The presentation was followed by a demonstration of the ZubAir simulator, implemented using VM's and using the ARINC 429 and ARINC 717 protocols for flight data transmission and storage.
