Increasing opportunities for career and professional readiness is at the forefront of every Job and Internship Expo.

Students and alumni are invited to the annual expo in the Williams Center Multipurpose Room on Tuesday, March 4, from 2 to 5 p.m.

That’s where they can meet representatives – many of them recent SUNY Fredonia alumni – representing over 80 employers in Western New York and beyond and receive valuable job and internship information.

“Our employer partners are always very excited to return to Fredonia. They are very pleased with the quality of candidates they find here and always compliment Fredonia on student preparedness for jobs and internships,” said Senior Associate Director of Career Development Chris LaGrow.

“They want to connect with candidates in person so students should take advantage of this opportunity,” Mr. LaGrow added.

The expo is also a great opportunity for students of any class year to learn about the early career experiences of Fredonia graduates and what to expect in the workplace, he added. General career guidance from Career Development Office (CDO) staff will also be available.

The CDO hosts the expo, free to students of all majors and alumni, each spring. Students from Jamestown Community College have also been invited to participate through a new SUNY initiative that supports creating robust regional academic partnerships for transfer students seeking a bachelor's degree.

SUNY Fredonia faculty may also attend the expo to network.

How should you prepare to attend the expo?

•    Since you’ll be able to have one-on-one conversations with employer representatives, be sure to research employers ahead of time; learn all you can about what the business, organization or agency does and consider how you could become a good fit in the organization.
•    Dress professionally and bring several copies of an updated resume or professional profile. You can schedule an appointment with the CDO to have your resume or LinkedIn page reviewed.
•    Assemble a list of questions to ask, whether you’re looking for a job or internship or networking opportunities that could lead to future positions.

A free photo booth will be available to take a headshot for your LinkedIn account or other professional profile. Students can also enter drawings for prizes that include wireless headphones and a $100 Visa gift card, among other items.
