The Department of Communication is welcoming two renowned artists for a Meet the Writers workshop later this month.

Poets Bernard and Diane Block will be in McEwen Hall Room 201, holding a question and answer session on Friday, April 26 from 2 to 4 p.m., during which students can bring in their own writing and receive constructive feedback. From 5 to 6 p.m., the poets will have readings of their own selected pieces.

Mr. Block has featured his work across the country, and around the world. Thirty-eight of his poems have been published in “Levure Littéraire,” a European online literary journal. His book of poetry, “Am I My Brother’s Keeper?” was published in 2017 by Dark Light Publishing.

Ms. Block has a bachelor’s and a master’s degree in Violin Performance, but she developed a passion for romantic and modern poetry during her years in college. The focus in her pieces is often on the connection between poetry and classical music. Her work has been published in “Levure Littéraire” as well as several other anthologies. Along with reading her poetry while in Fredonia, she will also perform the violin.

The couple has performed their work together and separately at many major poetry venues around their home in New York City, as well as on Long Island. They have also co-featured in Philadelphia and Laugharne, South Wales.

“This event is a great opportunity to listen to professional writers and get advice on your own work,” said Hannah Wittig, a senior Public Relations major and one of the student organizers of the event.

The reading is free and open to the public. For more information, contact Professor Vincent Quatroche at vincent.quatroche@fredonia.edu.
