Brady Ventura did a little bit of everything to aid the Devils' sweep.
Game 1 of the doubleheader started with a walk-off win -- the Devils' third of the season -- and finished with some strong pitching and timely hitting as the Fredonia State baseball team defeated Oneonta, 8-7 and 7-4.
Game 1
Tied 7-7, Tucker Schwab delivered the game-winning hit in the bottom of the ninth on a seeing-eye single to plate Brady Ventura as the Devils celebrated on the field. Ventura was a pest all game, getting three hits in his first three at bats, driving in a run in his fourth, and was hit by a pitch to start the ninth before coming around to score.
Nate O'Brochta picked up a win in relief. He struck out five in two innings of work. Peyton Ahlstrom set the table for him, going six innings and striking out six in a no decision.
Christian Pagano added a homerun among his two hits, and Schwab had a pair of RBI singles.
Game 2
A two-run homerun from Oneonta's Joey Dwyer got the Red Dragons rolling in the top of the first. However, three-spot for the Devils gave them the lead that they would keep the entire game.
Garrett Stuckey and Alex Gannon both had a pair of singles, and Pagano added his second longball of the day. He now has three on the season.
Morgan Zientara went six innings for the win. Freshman David Adams threw two scoreless to pick up his first collegiate save.
The Devils will play at Ludwig Field for a 2 p.m. doubleheader on Tuesday.
