Fredonia State's winning streak is cut short by SUNYAC opponent, Oswego State, with a score of 3-2.
The Blue Devils tried to claw their way back from a 3-0 deficit, but fell short of succeeding. The Devils were led by Gregg Lee (First Goal) and Ryan Bailey (Second Goal). Another outstanding performance by goaltender, Logan Dyck, as he had 35 saves on 38 shots (.921 save%).
After the first period, Fredonia State found themselves down 1-0 after a quick goal from Oswego State. The Lakers came out firing on all cylinders, as they netted a goal 30 second into first period. This goal came from Lakers forward, Alex DiCarlo that was assisted by Travis Broughman and Connor Sleeth. The Blue Devils answered back by shutting down the rest of the period on defense, but were unable to find the score sheet.
Fredonia was outshot 15 to 7 at the end of the first period.
The second period was much of the same as Oswego State found the back of the net twice. The Lakers second goal was scored by Tyler Flack, assisted by Rocco Andreacchi, at the 7:34 mark of the second period. The Lakers third goal of the contest was scored by Travis Broughman at the 13:01 mark. After three straight unanswered goals, Fredonia State found a way to answer back with a goal 55 second later. The Devils' first goal of the game came from Lee, that was assisted by Anders Johnson, at the 13:56 mark of the second period.
Both teams had 13 shots on goal in the second period.
In the third period, Fredonia State came out hot looking to comeback from a 3-1 deficit, held by Oswego State. Almost halfway through the third period Fredonia State found their second goal of the game, to bring the score to 3-2. The Blue Devils final goal came off of the stick of Bailey, assisted by McCabe, at the 10:15 mark of the third period. This goal was not enough, as Oswego State closed out the game at a final score of 3-2.
Fredonia was outshot 10 to 6 in the third period.
Fredonia State's next game is against SUNYAC opponent, Potsdam, on Friday, Feb. 4.
