The Fredonia women's basketball team opened its season with a 77-60 victory over Pitt-Bradford in Dods Hall on Saturday evening. Senior Anna Chiacchia led a balanced attack with 18 points on 8-of-11 shooting, and had seven steals.

Freshman Maddy Miske made her college debut with 12 points off the bench, all of them on four three-point buckets.

Rae White and Katie Pitcher added 11 points apiece, with White dishing out seven assists and Pitcher collecting a team-high eight rebounds. Lauren Mickley added eight points, and Sarah Keast had seven.

The Devils outrebounded UPB, 37-27, and both teams converted seven three pointers. The Devils held a solid advantage from the floor, converting 46 percent of their shots compared to 36 percent for the Panthers.

Shaelyn Snipes had 20 points to lead Bradford, and Taylor Sutryk added 13.

The Devils travel to the John Carroll Classic next weekend to take on the hosts on Friday and Capital on Saturday.
