The Fredonia State softball team swept Oswego by scores of 5-1 and 4-3 on Monday. Emily Chelius earned wins in both games, and launched her second home run of the season in Game 1. The Devils are off to a 3-1 start in the conference.

Game 1
Oswego used an RBI double in the top of the first to take a 1-0 lead. After that, Chelius would clamp down and hold the Lakers scoreless the rest of the way.

A big second inning saw the Devils score three runs. Allie Wandell, Alyssa Piniewski, and Amber Piniewski each collected an RBI in the frame. Wandell's hit was a double.

Alyssa Santiago's RBI single in the third gave the Devils a 4-1 lead. Chelius helped her own cause with a solo home run in the fifth inning.

Cheius scattered four hits and struck out three.

Game 2
The nightcap was scoreless until Oswego broke through in the top of the fourth. They used a single, ground out, and another single to take a 1-0 lead.

The Devils finally got on board in the fifth. Ayssa Piniewski singled home Alexis Wulf. A double by Maria Caviris put runners at second and third. A groundout by Chelius plated the second run. Kumro then followed with a two-run homer to put Fredonia State up, 4-1.

Oswego scratched out a run in the sixth with a double and a single. They made it interesting in the seventh.

After a leadoff double, Chelius got the next two batters on a flyout and a strike out. A base hit made it a 4-3 game, and brought the go-ahead run to the plate. Chelius slammed the door by inducing a popout to first base to end the game.

Chelius picked up her third win in the past four games, and improves to 5-6 on the season. The Devils improve to 6-12 and 3-1 in the SUNYAC. Oswego falls to 4-11 and 1-3 in the conference.
