The Fredonia State women's basketball team defeated SUNY Canton, 59-51, on Senior Day in Dods Hall.
Sophomore Grace Alexander led the Devils with 13 points and senior Mary Culeton added nine points and nine rebounds.
Another pair of seniors Kyla Smith and Allie Wandell put up solid numbers. Smith with seven points, five assists, and eight rebounds. Wandell had eight rebounds and four steals. The fourth senior, Jaden Sciotti, had four points and three rebounds in 20 minutes of action.
Canton was led by Kat McRobbie-Taru with 20 points and nine rebounds.
With the Roos leading 28-27 late in the second quarter, a layup by Fredonia State's Kaylyn Sweeney started an 11-0 run that would see the Devils go up by ten points, 38-28, early in the third.
The Roos battled back and would regain the edge following a three pointer by Chelsie Tyler, 40-39, with 2:36 left in the third. Fredonia State closed out the third with the final seven points and would keep the lead the rest of the game.
The Devils have one more home game left. They play host to Morrisville State on Tuesday as part of a women's/men's doubleheader.
