A scene from “Salam Neighbor,” a documentary about Syrian refugees, that can be viewed through Zoom.
The campus is invited to join a virtual screening that depicts the edge of war in the documentary “Salam Neighbor.”
In the film, director Chris Temple, who will join the screening, presents two American filmmakers who travel to the edge of war to live among 85,000 Syrian refugees in Jordan’s Za’atari camp. What it reveals is an intimate look at the heartbreak and hope on the front lines of one of the world’s most dire refugee crises.
The screening, slated for Wednesday, Oct. 23, from 5 to 6:15 p.m., will be followed by a question and answer session with Mr. Temple, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Raouf, the film’s youngest refugee and the main character of the documentary, will join the question and answer session from Jordan.
The award-winning feature documentary and campaign is a co-production of Optimist, a film company co-owned by Temple, and 1001 Media. It was made in association with the Emmy winning studio RYOT Films.
Temple, who’s based in California, directed numerous award-winning documentaries that include "Living on One Dollar," "Five Years North," "Abundance,” "All Things Metal," "Champions of the Golden Valley" and "This is not Financial Advice."
