SUNY Fredonia welcomes parents and family members of its nearly 5,700 students to campus for this year’s Family Weekend, Oct. 22 through 24.
Registration will be held Friday, 3 to 7 p.m., at the Williams Center. Festivities begin with a buffet with hot hors d’oeuvres and other light fare at the Williams Center, 5 to 7 p.m. The bookstore hosts an open house, 3 to 5 p.m.
The men’s soccer team will host SUNY Brockport, beginning at 3 p.m. Public Skate will be offered from 7:30 to 9 p.m. in the Steele Hall Ice Arena. There will be performances of “Charley’s Aunt” in Marvel Theatre and “The Boston Brass” in King Concert Hall both from 8 to 10 p.m. Tickets are required. Prepaid show tickets can be picked up at the Williams Center Ticket Office.
Other Friday evening attractions include a routine by Nicholas Anthony, well-known magician and comedian, in Rosch Recital Hall from 8 to 9:30 p.m., and tickets are required. The evening will be capped with conversation and refreshments in Cranston Marché Dining Hall beginning at 9:30 p.m.
Saturday’s full schedule begins at 9 a.m. with registration at the Williams Center, along with coffee and pastries. The campus’ annual Scholars Breakfast, an invitation-only gathering sponsored by the Fredonia College Foundation to recognize scholarship recipients and their benefactors, will be held from 9 to 10:30 a.m. in the Steele Hall Fieldhouse.
The men’s soccer team hosts SUNY Geneseo at 1 p.m. at the new University Stadium. Special store hours, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., will be observed at the bookstore. At 1 p.m. there will be a FSU varsity swim meet against SUNY Brockport in the Steele Hall Natatorium. Alpha Lambda Delta will stage its induction ceremony, by invitation, at the Williams Center from 2 to 3 p.m. There will be a Choral Showcase Concert at Rosch Recital Hall from 3 to 5 p.m. In the Williams Center there will be a presentation of “Stories and Dreams,” a musical dessert theater show, from 6 to 10 p.m. Tickets are again required.
The off-campus attraction offered this year will be a Saturday tour of the Merritt Estate Winery and Liberty Vineyards and Winery.
On Sunday, a traveler’s breakfast will be served from 9 to 11 a.m. at Cranston Marche Dining Hall. The bookstore will be open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
