First-liner Ryan Bailey got things started 57 seconds into the game with his fourth goal of the year, and linemates Johnny Malandruccolo and Antoine St. Onge assisted defenseman Cam Birkeland on the second goal, as the Fredonia State men's hockey team would roll to a 5-1 victory during the annual Pink the Rink game.
Pink the Rink, established in 2008, has raised over $114,00 for the American Cancer Society, as well as becoming a major event on campus. Following the game, the pink jerseys were given out to those who had a jersey sponsored in their name.
Malandruccolo, Bailey, and St. Onge are the top three point-getters for the Devils this season and each contributed a point in the victory.
Freshman Nolan Underwood scored his first career goal, and later added an assist. David Sudbrink and Kurri Woodford added third-period goals to back the 32-save effort of netminder Logan Dyck.
Bailey's goal would be the only score of the first period. Birkeland added his 1:46 into the second period, and just under five minutes later Underwood made it a 3-0 game.
Clark Cameron got the Mustangs on the board 13:20 into the second to keep things close, making it a 3-1 game. It was the first goal the Blue Devils gave up in over six periods of play.
Garrett Boyonoski had 27 saves for Morrisville, while surrendering all five scores.
The Devils improve to 4-7-1 in the conference and 6-14-1 overall. Morrisville falls to 2-10-1 in the SUNYAC and 4-16-1 overall. The Devils proved to have Morrisville's number, having beat them 5-3 earlier in the year.
The Devils are at home next weekend with games against Geneseo and Brockport.
