It has been a crazy week with several folks testing positive for influenza A.

In looking at the New York State Department of Health Weekly Reporting, our area has not yet peaked as cases continue to be on the rise. To prevent from getting or spreading the flu, the CDC  has the following recommendations:

  • If you are sick, stay home and away from others
  • Cover your nose and your mouth when you cough or sneeze
  • Wash your hands regularly with soap and water
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth
  • If you have not yet gotten the flu shot, you can still get one. All of our local pharmacies still have the flu vaccine available.
  • If you are sick, get seen - The Student Health Center  is not only able to test students for the flu, but also assist you with getting better. Employees should follow up with their primary care physicians office, as most have the ability to test for the flu with a simple appointment.
