Commencement 2019 at Fredonia will be live-streamed and will begin at 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. on Saturday, May 18, including of both ceremonies in the Steele Hall arena combining undergraduate and master’s degree and advanced certificate graduates.

The keynote speaker for both Commencement ceremonies is Fredonia alumnus Dr. Shaun C. Nelms, who is Superintendent of East High School, Rochester, N.Y., and William and Sheila Konar Director for the Center for Urban Education Success at the Warner School of Education of the University of Rochester. Dr. Nelms’ daughter, Nia, will receive her degree at the afternoon ceremony.
Senior Class President Katherine Hanover will speak at both ceremonies, and the Lanford Presidential Prize from the Oscar and Esther Lanford Endowment of the Fredonia College Foundation will be awarded to Monica A. Manney during the afternoon ceremony. College Council Chair Frank Pagano will offer greetings at both ceremonies.
Music groups performing include the Commencement Concert Band, under the direction of Raymond Stewart; Commencement Wind Ensemble, under the direction of Dr. Paula Holcomb; and the Fredonia Chamber Choir, under the direction of Dr. Vernon Huff. Graduating senior McKayla Weaver will sing the national anthem at the morning ceremony, and Laura Cook, at the afternoon ceremony.
