Members of the inaugural class of Omicron Delta Kappa at Fredonia will be inducted into the national leadership honor society at the Williams Center Room S204-ABC on Sunday, Nov. 4, at 1 p.m.
Darwin Jones, the society's national treasurer, will serve as the installing officer for the chartering ceremony. Fredonia’s charter group consists of 25 students and five faculty members.
Vice President for Enrollment and Student Services Cedric Howard enthusiastically supports Fredonia’s initiation into Omicron Delta Kappa. “I understand the role OΔK plays in the development of positive leadership traits of today’s college students.”
The honor society recognizes the exemplary service and involvement of students who are engaged with the campus community.
Prospective OΔK inductees must be ranked in the top 35 percent of their class and be nominated by a faculty or staff member. Members are recognized for their leadership involvement and become eligible to participate in national opportunities of the society that include scholarships, internships, campus grants and leadership programs.
Dr. Susan McNamara of the School of Business, and Mark Suida, director of Campus Life and coordinator of the Leadership minor program, will serve as advisors of the new OΔK chapter.
The ceremony is free and open to students and faculty.
OΔK, based in Lexington, Va., was founded in 1914 to recognize and encourage leadership at the collegiate level.
