The Fredonia State women's lacrosse team secured a 12-8 victory over Baldwin Wallace on Saturday at University Stadium, improving to 2-1 on the season.
The Blue Devils were propelled by an offensive surge from Sydney Buchko, who netted four goals, including three in the second half to help Fredonia State secure the victory.
The Devils jumped out to a strong start, scoring four goals in the first quarter. Noelle Mendez played a key role early, finding the net twice in the opening frame before finishing the game with a hat trick. Emma Cockerel added two goals and three assists, while five other Blue Devils contributed to the scoring column.
Defensively, goalkeeper Ashleigh Manns was a force in the cage, making 11 saves while allowing just eight goals, securing her second win of the season. Baldwin Wallace's, Caroline Potteiger, faced 26 shots and recorded six saves in the loss, dropping her record to 2-3.
For Baldwin Wallace, Annette Doren led the way with a game-high three goals and an assist, while Emma Northrup chipped in two goals. Despite a strong push in the second quarter that saw them cut the deficit to one goal, the Yellow Jackets were held scoreless in the third quarter, allowing Fredonia State to pull away.
The Blue Devils will return to action on Tuesday when they host Chatham University at University Stadium at 4 p.m.
