Hallie Heady, a junior majoring in Business Administration: Marketing, with a minor in Visual Arts and New Media, has been named Student of the Month for March by the Office of Residence Life.
School of Business Professor Moj Seyedian nominated Ms. Heady for the award, citing her strong academic performance as well as numerous contributions she’s made, highlighted by her work as vice president of Communications and Social Media for SUNY Fredonia’s student club Enactus.
“I am very much impressed by her academic acumen and her outstanding consulting work with the business establishments in the region to help them address some of their business shortcomings,” Dr. Seyedian commented.
Heady and colleagues in Enactus have been working with the Boys & Girls Club of Northern Chautauqua County, creating a curriculum designed for social and emotional learning for children ages 5 through 7. She is also the social chair of the campus Women’s Black Horse Rugby team.
When asked about her favorite things about Fredonia, Heady, a graduate of Monroe-Woodbury High School from Highland Mills, NY, responded, “The support and mentorship I have received by some of my professors and my advisor. They have encouraged me to be my best self and find my own career path. I wouldn’t be where I am without their support.
“How accepting the people at this school are,” Heady continued. “I really love the culture of SUNY Fredonia, with there being so many students with diverse backgrounds. There is a sense of community.”
The Student of the Month program was implemented in 2003 to recognize students who are well-rounded, excel in their academics and contribute positively to the campus and community.
