Leagues have opened registrations to students and staff to play in the popular fall Intramural sports season.
There are four sports – dodgeball, flag football, indoor volleyball and pickleball – and three team categories in each – coed, men’s and women’s.
“We offer both recreational and competitive leagues that focus on providing participants with exercise, recreation, competition and fun. It doesn't matter whether you're a seasoned athlete or a first-time participant,” said Samantha Cates, IM schedule and events coordinator.
Schedules will be finalized when team registration closes, which will be at 11:59 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 21. Team members can be added to rosters until Saturday, Sept. 28.
• Flag football – begins Tuesday, Sept. 24. Games are played between 8 and10 p.m. each week. Teams will play one or two games each week.
• Volleyball – begins Monday, Sept. 30. Games will be played between 7:30 and 10 p.m. Teams will play one or two games each week.
• Pickleball – begins Wednesday, Sept. 25, Games will be held Wednesdays and Thursdays, from 7:30 to 10:30 p.m.
• Dodgeball – begins Thursday, Oct. 3. Games will be held on Thursdays between 7:30 and 10 p.m.
When a participant signs up here: , they will automatically be added to the email list which will provide more specific and updated information about game schedules. Students can join multiple sports in a single season, explained Ms. Cates, a senior Adolescence Education: Biology major, with a minor in Chemistry, from Long Island, NY.
When registering for IMLeagues, students need to use their Fredonia email and then select Fredonia in the IMLeagues system. After this, they can click "Sports" and scroll down to view the four available leagues that are open.
Students can create their own team, join a friend’s team, or join as a free agent where they will be assigned to a team by the league's commissioner.
“There are plenty of opportunities waiting for you,” Cates added.
Winners of each championship game get a free t-shirt. Students who win three championships in one academic school year will receive an Intramural Legend hoodie.
