Sembel Koshi was the top Blue Devil runner for the Fredonia State men's cross country team at the Kara Hall Memorial Invitational on Saturday. Koshi finished ninth overall in 26:55 in a meet that saw several other SUNYAC teams compete. The Devils finished fourth out of seven teams.
Koshi was trailed by fellow veteran runners Kyle Campbell (13th, 27:10) and Josh Walters (16th, 27:18).
A pair of freshmen also scored for the Devils: Eli Noecker (29th, 29:12) and Quillan Shimp (32nd, 29:30).
Displacement runners were Aiden VanAmburg (33rd, 29:45) and Colin Cassidy (39th, 31:04). A total of 94 runners competed. SUNY Geneseo took the team title, with Oneonta and Brockport finishing ahead of the Devils. Oswego, Buffalo State, and Alfred State rounded out the field.
The race was in memory of former Blue Devil Kara Hall, a 2017 graduate, who passed away in 2020 tragically after she was struck by a car while she was out running.
