The Office of Resident Life named Sarah Rose McMullen, a Math Middle Childhood Education major from Hamburg, the October Student of the Month.
“She is a passionate mathematician and language learner. I have seen her acquire more and more Spanish over the semester, and I now enjoy the ability to speak with her in Spanish!” said Brain B. Boisvert, a professor in the Department of World Language and Cultures who nominated McMullen for the award. According to Dr. Boisvert, McMullen contributes to the community through her participation in the classroom and her student organizations.
“My favorite thing about Fredonia is the community that I am a part of. Everyone is super friendly and always is willing to help out no questions asked. Fredonia feels like a second home to me,” Ms. McMullen said.
McMullen is a member of the Problem-Solving Chancellor of SUNY Fredonia’s Math Club, Chi Tau Omega. Her goals this year are to become president of the Math Club and to get good grades while maintaining a job and 20 credit hours. After graduation, McMullen wishes to work at a middle school in the Hamburg or Fredonia/Dunkirk area.
The Student of the Month program was implemented in 2003 to recognize students who are well-rounded, excel in their academics and contribute positively to the campus and community.
