Even though you may have previously signed up to receive NY-Alert messages on various devices - you must read this update and take action.
As part of Fredonia's commitment to ensuring a safe campus environment, we test the NY-Alert mass notification system near the start of each semester.
NY-Alert can send text, email, and recorded voice messages to multiple email addresses and phone numbers simultaneously. It is one of several notification tools used to send emergency information to the entire campus quickly.
IMPORTANT FOR 2024: ITS has updated the servers used for our NY-Alert system. As part of that upgrade, all students, faculty, and staff are automatically signed up for NY-Alert through their Fredonia email. Because of the change, everyone needs to add or re-add their cell phone/text numbers and/or other email addresses to receive alerts. Even if you received alerts on your cell phone via phone call and/or text previously, you must add your devices to your account.
For instructions, go to the NY-Alert page.
We will conduct the annual campus test of the NY-Alert system this Thursday, Aug. 29, at 12:25 p.m. At that time, you will receive a test message from the NY-Alert system to the devices you signed up to receive them. We will send another email Thursday morning before the test as a reminder.
