Kylie O'Brien
Kyle O'Brien's sensational sophomore season was rewarded with an All-SUNYAC selection.
The outside hitter from Jamestown (NY) High School was named to the Second Team.
“I'm proud of Kylie's development in her second season," said Head Coach Geoff Braun. “She is a dynamic offensive threat that had to deal with defenses adjusted to defend her. She has also become a more complete player. This is a well-deserved accolade.”
O'Brien was one of the top hitters in the SUNYAC, ranking third in kills (354) and kills per set (3.44). Her kill total has also ranked her 10th on the Blue Devils' single-season list. She added 37 aces, 25 blocks, and 212 digs to her stat line.
In nine conference-only games, she again ranked third in kills (123) and kills per set (3.73). She had a season high of 23 in five sets against Potsdam on Oct. 5th.
O'Brien improved upon her freshman-season total of 201 kills, which was tops on the team.
Assistant Coach Brinn Sahughnessy took over the team for a large part of the season. Shaughnessy had this to say about O'Brien: “Her talent on the court is no accident — it's the result of countless hours of dedication and hard work. She approaches every practice with relentless effort, always striving to improve, and that commitment directly translates to her exceptional skill in volleyball. Her success is a testament to her work ethic and passion for the game.”
