The 2023 Pink The Rink jerseys to be worn by the Fredonia State men's hockey team will contain the names of every person, couple, or group ever honored at the annual event. In addition, the $100,000 mark in funds raised for the American Cancer Society will be surpassed.
The names will be ghosted in pink on both sides of the white jerseys the Blue Devils will wear when they face the Potsdam Bears on Sat., Feb. 4.
Head Coach Jeff Meredith said he wanted to do something special to commemorate the milestone of surpassing $100,000 in donations. "I thought it would be nice," he said, "to get everybody's name on it."
In addition, during the game there will be many drawings, raffles, and other events held to help raise money for the American Cancer Society.
The tradition of Pink the Rink began in 2008 and that first year raised $3,800.
The game will also be a pivotal one for the Blue Devils. Winners of three out of their last five, they will be battling for a SUNYAC playoff berth. As of today, they are tied with Morrisville State for the sixth-and-final playoff spot, while Brockport and Potsdam are just one point behind both teams. Prior to Saturday night's game, the Devils will also play host to Plattsburgh on Friday.
Tickets for this Pink the Rink are $7 for adults, $3 for students, and $2 for Fredonia State students with I.D.
