Winners of the Rosa Parks Scholarship Competition at SUNY Fredonia will be recognized at an awards ceremony on Feb. 19.

The event, which will put the spotlight on all entrants in the competition, will be held at noon in the Horizon Room in the Williams Center.

Winners include:

  • Ebony Jones, a senior Accounting major, with a spoken word entry, “Little Black Girl.”
  • Cameron Kerr-Smith, a senior Animation/Illustration major, with a digital art piece, “Self - Portrait (2024)”
  • Katelyn Spina, a senior B.F.A. Acting and B.A. Music/Voice major, with a painting, : "She Lived Happily in this Country for Seven Years"

The honorable mentions include the following students:

  • Krish Chawla, a sophomore Computer Science major, with an essay, “Delhi Memoir maps - My Place of Birth”
  • Pedro Martinez, a senior with majors in Psychology and Ethnic and Gender Studies, with a poem, “My Mexico.”
  • Cecelia Young, a senior Biology major, with her braided essay, “You Can kill a Man, but His Children Won't Forget”

The event is coordinated by the Intercultural Center and the Rosa Parks Scholarship Competition Committee.
