Ryan Nowak, with Dr. Mojtaba Seyedian.
Ryan Nowak, who recently received undergraduate degrees in Computer Information Systems (B.S.) and Music (B.A.), was named Student of the Month for April by the Office of Residence Life.
How strong the music program is has led to a big growth in my knowledge as a musician. Small class sizes have allowed me to get to know my professors more and get more directed help when needed. -- Ryan Nowak
Mr. Nowak, of Shoreham, was a member of Club Ultimate Frisbee, serving as vice president and president; and of the a cappella group Much More Chill and the College Choir.
Additionally, he was a former member of Chamber Choir, a teaching assistant for the Department of Computer Science, a student network technician on the ITS Service Center team and a website design intern in the School of Business, where he worked for Dr. Seyedian.
When asked what he enjoyed most about Fredonia, Nowak answered, “How strong the music program is has led to a big growth in my knowledge as a musician. Small class sizes have allowed me to get to know my professors more and get more directed help when needed. Opportunities in the computer science department have increased my connections to those working professionally, including getting to work this semester with Paychex on a project alongside students.”
Nowak has already launched his career as a software engineer, working for Northrop Grumman.
The Student of the Month program was implemented in 2003 to recognize students who are well-rounded, excel in their academics and contribute positively to the campus and community.
