The Sig Ep 5K for Cancer, a charity fundraiser hosted by the Sigma Phi Epsilon chapter at SUNY Fredonia to benefit the Willie Bee Foundation, will be held on Sunday, Nov. 13, beginning at 9 a.m. in Dods Grove.
Tickets, at $10 for students, $15 for the general public, are available at the Fredonia Ticket Office in the Williams Center.
Easing the burden of families impacted by cancer by helping out with assorted household chores, such as grocery shopping, mowing the lawn, shoveling snow and other tasks families normally wouldn’t be able to do on their own, is the mission of the Willie Bee Foundation.
Proceeds from the 5K will be given to the charity arm of the Willie Bee Foundation, so they can be allocated to pay for supplies necessary to help with chores around the house, such as buying groceries and new children’s clothing, paying someone to shovel snow and keep up with yard work as the seasons change.
“All of these things are addressed in an attempt to ease the burden on parents or families who have a loved one battling cancer. The foundation recognizes that sometimes these families can’t do all of these things on their own and wants to grant those families some peace of mind,” said Noah Frederick, Sigma Phi Epsilon president.
“The 5K means so much to our chapter and could mean so much to hundreds of families that could see the benefits of the charity,” Mr. Frederick added.
