When asked about his favorite thing(s) about Fredonia, Smith replied, “I love how small the campus is; it makes me feel like everything matters a little bit more. I also love the nature, specifically the squirrels, woodchucks and the woodlot on campus. The arts here are also amazing, [as are] writing, everything VANM does and the live theatrical performances.”
Smith was nominated by Donna “DG” Good, residence director of Chautauqua Hall. Ms. Good’s praise of Smith included noting, “Ethan works hard every week to build community in our hall. Asked about future goals, Smith replied, “I would love to get some of my work published in literary magazines and continue to work on my novel. I look forward to continuing my education and am considering applying for M.F.A. writing programs after I complete my M.A. in English Ed.”
