The College Symphony Orchestra will take the stage with pianist and School of Music Concerto Competition winner Mario Qing Fei Chai.
The free concert is slated for Saturday, Oct. 19, during Homecoming weekend, at 8 p.m. in Harry A. King Concert Hall.
The program, to be conducted by Dr. Emily Schaad, will feature Prokofiev’s “Lieutenant Kijé Suite,” originally composed in 1933 as a film soundtrack, and the turbulent “Tragic Overture” by Brahms.
Chai will perform Liszt’s “Totentanz,” or “Dance of the Dead,” virtuosic variations on the “Dies irae” chant, for piano and orchestra.
