Brian Taylor and Katie Sellers.
A pair of Fredonia State soccer players -- Katie Sellers (Glenmont, N.Y. / Bethlehem) from the women's team and Brian Taylor (East Patchogue, N.Y./Bellport) from the men's -- were named All Region by the United Soccer Coaches. Sellers was tabbed Second Team, while Taylor garnered Fourth Team honors.
Sellers, a senior, led the Devils in scoring and was twice named SUNYAC Player of the Week, as well as First team All SUNYAC. Her 13 goals ranked third in the conference and is second all time behind Reilly Condidorio's 14 in 2011. Her 28 points were second in the conference and ranks fourth all time in Blue Devil history. The Devils finished the season tying the school record of 12 wins, and earning a home playoff game.
For her career, Sellers' 31 goals is third all time and her 68 points is ranked fourth. She added six assists in 56 games played. She also produced two of her four-career hattricks this season.
Taylor, also a senior, had a nose for the net, leading the Devils in scoring as the team finished the year with an 8-9-2 mark. He led the Devils with 13 goals and seven assists. His point total of 33 ranked third in the SUNYAC as he was named Second Team All Conference.
"Being named to the All-Region team," said head coach PJ Gondek "is another honor bestowed on Brian that further proves what an exceptional senior season he had as the players on this team are the best of the best that the New York region has to offer".
Taylor was named SUNYAC Player of the Week twice. He had a big game in a three-goal effort in a win over Hilbert College and added the game-winning goal in a 2-1 win over St. Vincent during the week ending Sept. 16. For the week ending Sept. 23rd, he had four goals -- two against Pitt-Bradford and two against Canton.
