The Fredonia State men's and women's track and field team traveled to Rochester, N.Y., to compete in the University of Rochester's Alumni Invitational on Saturday.
The event would prove very beneficial for the Devils, with nine new personal records recorded.
"Very strong meet today for all. Several personal bests, and everyone looked very confident going into our championship part of the season," noted Head Coach Tom Wilson, when asked about the Devils performance on the day.
The most notable event for the Devils would be the men's 200m dash. Nick Abdo would have the best finish of the day for the Devils finishing third in the 200m with a time of 22.50. Nick Marsowicz would have a strong showing in the 200m finishing ninth overall with a time of 23.10 Toby Onuoha would finish the 200m with a time of 22.85 which would be a new personal best for him. Onuhuoha finish seventh overall in the 200m just .57 seconds off of the winner.
Jacob Winn had another impressive outing as well in both the 100m and 200m dash, finishing with new personal records in each. In the 100m Winn finished with a time of 11.01 finishing fourth overall and in the 200m a time of 22.86.
Sam Cottrell participated in the 800m and earn a new personal record with a time of 2:02.66. Kyle Campbell would have a solid performance in the 1500m dash recording a personal record with a time of 4:18.79. Ethan Pocock would compete in the pole vault and would earn a personal best by vaulting 3.71m
Cameron Sample would also place ninth in the triple jump with new personal best of 12.74m which would be a personal best for him as well. Up next would be Josh Walters competing in the 400m, Walters would finish in 51.49 a personal record.
On women's side, Haley Lerner made her return to competition today after a off-season ankle surgery sidelined her for some time. Lerner would participate in the pole vault and would clear 2.69m.
In addition, Holly Rohrbach would participate in the 1500m and would accomplish a new personal record with a time of 5:57.85.
The Blue Devils will return to Rochester to compete in the Cardinal Classic Invite at St. John Fisher on April 29.
