The SUNY Fredonia Office of Veterans Affairs will host a Veterans Remembrance Ceremony on Friday, Nov. 10 at 3:30 p.m., in the Multipurpose Room of the Williams Center.
The public is invited to attend the free event.
The event provides a forum through which the university and surrounding community gather to remember, honor and show gratitude to the countless men and women who have served the U.S. through the many branches of the Armed Forces. The highlight of the event is the presentation of the annual Fredonia Veterans Scholarships, the Courage and Honor Scholarship and the Ronald L. and Marilyn Denison Scholarship, all made possible through gifts to the Fredonia College Foundation. Recipients include:
Courage and Honor Scholarship
Ronald L. and Marilyn M. Denison Scholarship
Fredonia Veteran Scholarships
There will also be the posting and retiring of the colors by the Dunkirk/Fredonia Veterans Council, and a moment of silence in recognition of American veterans for their service and sacrifice. The program will be followed by a reception.
Also, an information and a “package drop off” table will be at the event for the Holiday Care Package Fund Drive for military service members, and those attending are urged to bring a donation for the care packages.
The event is coordinated by David M. White, director of Multicultural Support Services and Veterans Administrator.
