Adjunct Lecturer Sarah Luebke of the School of Music faculty will make her solo debut singing with the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra as the soprano soloist in the orchestra and Irish Classical Theatre Company’s production of Finnish composer Jean Sibelius' setting of “The Tempest,” by William Shakespeare.

Performances are at Kleinhans Music Hall in Buffalo on Friday and Saturday, Feb. 24 and 25, at 7:30 p.m., and Sunday, Feb. 26, at 2:30 p.m.

“The Tempest” will be semi-staged featuring actors from the Irish Classical Theatre Company, soloists and the orchestra, conducted by music director and three-time GRAMMY winner JoAnn Falletta.

A Nebraska native, Ms. Luebke has appeared in opera, musical theater, and concert stages throughout the United States and Europe. Stage roles include Masha in “Enemies: A Love Story,” Isabelle Eberhardt in “Songs from the Uproar,” Yum-Yum in “The Mikado,” Rose Maybud in “Ruddigore,” La Fée in “Cendrillon,” Fiordiligi in “Così fan tutte,”  Lauretta and Nella in “Gianni Schicchi,” Najade in “Ariadne auf Naxos,” Monica in “The Medium,” Serpina in “La Serva Padrona,” Nora in “Riders to the Sea,” Lucinda in “Into the Woods” and Jane McDowell in “The Stephen Foster Story.” Solo concert performances include appearances with the Rochester Oratorio Society, Brevard Music Festival Orchestra, Amherst Symphony Orchestra, Ashland Chamber Music Society, Camerata di Sant' Antonio, Chequamegon Symphony Orchestra, Houghton College Orchestra and the St. Olaf Orchestra. She performed as a young artist with the Twin Cities’ Opera Guild and the Janiec Opera Company of the Brevard Music Festival.

Luebke has also been recognized for her studio teaching. She was selected for the distinguished 2022 National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS) Intern Program, working alongside nationally recognized master teachers. She was also the winner of the prestigious Teaching Assistant Prize at the Eastman School of Music for her teaching of applied voice.

Luebke teaches applied voice and the vocal pedagogy sequence at SUNY Fredonia. She has also taught on the faculties of Houghton College, the University of Wisconsin-Superior, Northland College, Northern Iowa Area Community College and Waldorf University.
