The offices of Residence Life, Campus Life and the Counseling Center have organized a Wellness Week starting Monday, Nov. 9.
There are several events slated for the week. Masks and social distancing for the events are required and will be enforced to ensure safety for the campus community and all those participating.
Wednesday, in the Multipurpose Room from 12:30 until 3 p.m., is Fresh Check Day, a mental health promotion and suicide prevention event that includes interactive expo booths, peer-to-peer messaging, support of multiple campus departments and groups, free food, entertainment, and exciting prizes and giveaways. Fresh Check Day aims to create an approachable and hopeful atmosphere where students are encouraged to engage in dialogue about mental health and help to build a bridge between students and the mental health resources available on campus, in the community, and nationally. On Toasty Thursday from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m., between the Office of Residence Life (Gregory Hall) and the Williams Center, there will be a glove and hat giveaway with a sweet treat.
On Fresh Air Friday, there will be various walks scheduled around campus, including:
A Scavenger Hunt will start at the Williams Center Multipurpose Room at 9 a.m. and continue until 4 p.m. Residence Life has partnered with the Chautauqua Department of Mental Hygiene to host the scavenger hunt that will highlight various supports and resources on campus. Students can compete on their own or as part of a team, (maximum of four members). Participants will be entered to win prizes!
At 10 a.m.: Explore Fredonia's campus woodlot with the College of Education’s SUNY Distinguished Teaching Professor Michael Jabot. Meet at the campus woodlot.
At 2 p.m.: Mindfulness Walk with the Counseling Center's own Brandon Drummond. Meet on steps in front of Health Center/LoGrasso Hall.
