“Spread the word to end the word” is the theme of a one-day awareness campaign being sponsored by the Resident Assistant Advisory Board on Wednesday, March 2, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., to banish the use of the words “retard” and “retarded” from our vocabulary.  Those words, organizers say, hurt millions of people with intellectual disabilities, their families and their friends. In its place, RAAB encourages members of the campus community to promote a new R-word: respect.  Student participation in the campaign is not intended to disrupt classes or other campus activities.
