Each Friday at noon on campus, the Fredonia chapter of Sigma Xi, the Scientific Research Society, hosts a brown bag talk. On Oct. 21, Professor Emeritus Jack Berkley will present "Mars Meteorites: The Story Behind their Discovery."

Meetings are held in the Major Alice Conference Room on the third floor of the Science Center.

Dr. Berkley’s talk stems from his studies of Mars meteorites. He and his colleague, Jeff Taylor, were the first humans to declare that some rocks in Earthly collections were, in fact, from the planet Mars, confirmed by mass spectrometry work in the early 1980s.
