Dr. Christian Bernhard

Dr. Jill Reese

School of Music Professors Drs. Christian Bernhard and Jill Reese have been invited to participate in the National Association for Music Education’s Biennial Conference in St. Louis, March 28-31.  Dr. Bernhard will be a representative for the editorial board of the "Journal of Music Teacher Education" and present a recent research study, "Music Education Majors’ Confidence in Teaching Improvisation," while Dr. Reese will present two research studies, "Adults' Identifications of Music Behaviors Demonstrated by Young Children" and "Becoming Music Teacher Educators."

Dr. Bernhard is an Associate Professor of Music Education, where he teaches courses in instrumental music methods and conducting, as well as graduate courses in music education history, philosophy, psychology, assessment, and curriculum. Dr. Bernhard holds degrees in music performance and education from The Peabody Conservatory of Music, The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and The University of North Carolina at Greensboro, and taught band and orchestra in the public schools of Raleigh, North Carolina.

An assistant professor in the Music Education department, Dr. Reese holds degrees in Music Education from Temple University, the University of Michigan and Michigan State University. Dr. Reese is published in the Music Educators Journal and has presented research and practical clinics at state, regional, national, and international conferences: MENC, AERA, SMTE, Suncoast Music Education Research Symposium, New Directions in Music Education, International Association for the Study of Child Language, Mountain Lake Colloquium, Early Childhood Music and Movement Association, Gordon Institute for Music Learning, and American Orff-Schulwerk Association.
