Best of BroadwayThe four professional singers from The Best of Broadway are returning to Rockefeller Arts Center by popular demand.

The Best of Broadway will perform its program “Broadway Showstoppers” on Saturday, Sept. 27 at 8 p.m. in King Concert Hall. It is DFT Communications Pops Series event sponsored by WDOE and 96 KIX Country.

The show follows last November’s Best of Broadway performance of “The Songs of Andrew Lloyd Webber,” which proved to be the most popular single event in the 2007-08 season at Rockefeller Arts Center.

“Broadway Showstoppers” will be the first Pops event in the 2008-09 Lake Shore Savings Season. Audience members will experience comedy, passion and romance on an electrifying roller coaster ride down the Great White Way with selections from classic musicals, long-running blockbusters and the hottest new shows.

Songs from “Phantom of the Opera,” “Man of La Mancha,” “All That Jazz,” “Beauty and the Beast,” “Wicked” and many more of Broadway’s best will be featured. The concert showcases Broadway hits by Andrew Lloyd Webber, Stephen Schwartz, Rodgers and Hammerstein and Kander and Ebb.

Performing the songs will be:

• Raymond Saar, who has performed on concert stages and in theaters throughout the world. He starred as Raoul in “Phantom of the Opera” in San Francisco and played Marius and Enjolras in “Les Miserables.”

• Diane Ketchie, who made her Broadway debut in “Phantom of the Opera” and also starred in the San Francisco production of “Phantom” as Carlotta.

• Valerie Perri, who is best known to theater audiences for her award-winning performance in the lead role of Eva Peron in the Tony Award-winning musical “Evita.”

• Scott Harlan, who has appeared in the national companies of “Do Black Patent Leather Shoes Really Reflect Up?” and “The Rocky Horror Show.”
