Black Student Union alumni of SUNY Fredonia and friends will meet Friday, March 28, in New York City to raise funds for the Nabta Fund, a scholarship endowment established through the Fredonia College Foundation to benefit students of color at SUNY Fredonia.

The gathering, including an open bar, hors d’oeuvres, and musical entertainment, will be held from 7 to 11 p.m., in Midtown Manhattan at the exclusive Nikki Beach, 151 East 50th St. (between Lexington and 3rd Ave.), New York, NY 10022. Those planning to attend will be asked to make a contribution to the Nabta Fund.

Organizers noted, “Thanks to your (alumni and friends) efforts, we have raised almost $5,000, and we are energized about continuing the rest of the journey. We urge you to come out and have a great time with old and new friends, while taking pleasure in knowing that we are transforming the lives of those who follow us…We as BSU alumni understand the importance of a quality education and the financial pitfalls students of color face (in) trying to achieve that goal. Any help we can provide to students now will benefit all of us in the future.”

The scholarship fund, established by alumni of the university’s Black Student Union, is designed to provide financial assistance to exceptional students who are active members of the Black Student Union at SUNY Fredonia.

Those planning to attend are asked to R.S.V.P. by e-mail to alumni Zoe Bogan or Reagan Branch.
