The Office of Volunteer and Community Services, along with its Volunteer Services Advisory Group, chaired by Joyce Harvard Smith, will sponsor its fifth annual Community Service Fair at SUNY Fredonia in the Williams Center, Multipurpose room on Wednesday, Feb. 18 from 10 a.m. to  2 p.m.

The Fair is one of the many ways in which the Office of Volunteer and Community Services seek to build partnerships between the campus and the community. (This past year SUNY Fredonia students participated in over 9,550 hours of volunteer service.)

At the fair, students will have an opportunity to meet with a variety of local service agencies and discuss, learn about and sign-up for volunteer opportunities at the prospective sites.

Some of the agencies that will be participating are: The American Red Cross, Brooks Memorial Hospital, Camp Gross, Compeer Chautauqua, Literacy Volunteers, Dunkirk-Fredonia Meals on Wheels, Centaur Stride, Lakeshore Humane Society, Chautauqua County Rural Ministry, Campus and Community Children’s Center, the United Way of Northern Chautauqua County, WCA Home, Learning Disabilities Association, Chautauqua County Hospice, Chautauqua Blind Association, Dunkirk Boys and Girls Club, Habitat for Humanity, Saint Columban’s on the Lake and more.

Students will become aware of various volunteer opportunities. Information about the various agencies will be made available to them.
