Fredonia senior Mikayla Capestrani (Jamestown/Jamestown) has again been selected State University of New York Athletic Conference Women's Indoor Track Field Athlete of the Week.
Also the winner of last year's honor, Capestrani broke the school pole vault record for the second straight meet. She cleared 11 feet, 11 3/4 inches -- four inches higher than seven days earlier at Tiffin, Ohio -- to finish second, first among NCAA Division 3 women, at Cornell University's Marc Deneault Invitational on Saturday.
She also moved to No. 16 on the NCAA Division 3 indoor performance list this winter.
