The Office of Volunteer and Community Services, in conjunction with its Volunteer Services Advisory Group, will sponsor its ninth annual Community Service Fair on Friday, Sept. 14, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Williams Center Multipurpose Room.
The fair highlights one of the many ways the Office of Volunteer and Community Services closes the gap between opportunities for students to volunteer on campus and in the community. Students will have the chance to meet with a variety of local service agencies and discuss, learn about, and sign up for volunteer opportunities with the potential sites. The event is free and open to all students.
Some of the agencies participating this year include: the 1891 Fredonia Opera House, American Red Cross, Boys and Girls Club of Northern Chautauqua County, Camp Gross, Campus and Community Children’s Center, Chautauqua Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Council (CASAC), Chautauqua Blind Association, Chautauqua County Rural Ministry (Friendly Kitchen/ Garment Gallery), Chautauqua County Humane Society, Chautauqua Opportunities, Dunkirk Elementary After School Program (21st Century), Dunkirk-Fredonia Meals on Wheels, Greystone Nature Preserve, Habitat for Humanity, Saint Columban’s on the Lake Retirement Home, United Way of Northern Chautauqua, WCA Home, YWCA and more.
Information regarding the agencies will be available to students throughout the fair. To learn more, contact Joyce Harvard Smith, coordinator of Volunteer and Community Services, at ext. 3690.
