Fredonia, N.Y. – The Fredonia Improv Collective is holding a concert on Sunday, Nov.  16, at 8 p.m. in Rosch Recital Hall, under the direction of Dr. David Rudge,  a member of the Fredonia School of Music faculty.  Featuring music created in the moment, the event is free and open to the public.

The collective is comprised of 40 music and non-music majors, who improvise in any and all styles. They use traditional instruments as well as random items--such as spoons, plungers and metal baking pans--to provide a fun and enjoyable musical experience.

Organized through the SUNY Fredonia Student Association, the Fredonia Improv Collective is dedicated to self-expression following principles set by the National Standards for Teaching Improvisation. According to Dr. Rudge, the group is comprised of “some of the most creative students in the School of Music,” as well as outstanding student musicians who are majoring in other subjects.  The group  meets at 7 p.m. every Sunday night in Mason Hall for jam sessions, which are also open to the public.
