The School of Music has announced the winners of the 2014 Concerto Competition, which took place in King Concert Hall on Sunday, May 4.
A panel of nine music faculty judges announced three winners, chosen from the 13 students who participated in the annual event. The winners include: Joseph Bennett (saxophone) of Getzville, N.Y., a junior majoring in Music Education who is in the studio of Dr. Wildy Zumwalt; Margaret van Norden (soprano) of Schenectady, N.Y., a junior Music Performance major in Professor Julie Newell’s studio; and Callen Lange (piano) of Wolcott, N.Y., a sophomore with a dual major in Piano Performance and Mathematics, who is in Dr. Stign De Cock's piano studio.
All three Concerto Competition winners will be featured as soloists with a School of Music ensemble during the 2014-15 academic year.
