U.S. Congressman Brian Higgins will speak with SUNY Fredonia students and the campus community from 4 to 5 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 25 in Room S-104 of the Williams Center. He will answer questions on issues raised by students and others as he discusses the importance of being involved in the political process.

He is a member of the Committee on Ways and Means, the oldest committee in the U.S. Congress and the House’s chief committee on tax-writing and economic development. Congressman Higgins has been an advocate for economic development projects in Western New York, the use of tax incentives for job creation and investment, the local alternative energy industry, improvement in the health care system and college affordability, among his many other legislative efforts and interests on national and foreign policy issues.
Congressman Higgins has served in the New York State Assembly (1999-2003), on the Buffalo Common Council, and as an instructor in the History and Economic departments at Buffalo State College. He has an undergraduate degree in Political Science from Buffalo State College and an advanced degree in Public Policy and Administration from the John F.
