Learn about international opportunities as last year’s Fulbright recipients and international scholars share their experiences. All presentations will take place from noon to 12:50 in Fenton Hall's English Reading room (Fenton 127). Drinks provided.

  • Monday, October 20 – Robert Dahlgren, School of Education
    "Daigaku Life: The Experience of Teaching in a Japanese University"
    Bob will be discussing his two and a half years teaching English and Comparative Cultures in the Education Department of Miyazaki University, a national university in Miyazaki prefecture on the southern Japanese island of Kyushu
  • Monday, November 17 – John Staples, Department of History
    “Russian Conversations”
    John will recount conversations with law students, a migrant worker from Turkmenistan, a retired Red Army colonel, a Belorussian border guard, and other people he met in Russia during his Fall ’07 research trip. The goal will be to try to give context to current concerns about Russian attitudes toward the West. 
  • Monday, December 8 – Iclal VanWesenbeeck, Department of English
    “Children of the Young Turkish Republic”
    Iclal will take a brief look at the lives and stories of the children of the early republic (1923-1938) that reveal the hardships of nation building, literacy, and labor.
